'Great promise is held in the smallest of things, as simple and unassuming as an egg.'

I wanted a non-typical dragon piece, which explains a lot about this piece. I enjoy working with fairy-tale like images, and played with that idea some more. Created with watercolor pencil and black ink.

This image is copyright to me, completed 4/29/05.

Non-typical indeed. Again som parts getting over the border, again I like it.
A weird piece I'd say, there's something that is impressing me, but right now I don't know neither what is it or if it's good or not.
I think it's in the blue dragon pose and the pink look.
Right now i say I like it a lot, so I guess that while I still can't say what is it, I can say it's good.

Wow. Great piece. I love the color and this is definitely a non-typical dragon piece. I also love the Celtic border. Keep up the great work!

:-) Maryanne 'Mab' English-Betie replies: "Thanks! One of these days, I'll skip the Celtic look on the border and going for something extremely extravagant and art noveau looking....maybe."

I liked the border you used it looks great and so do the dragons. I like that the red dragon is holding an egg.

I think I got it, they're somewhat antropomorphized (did I wrote it right? 12 ), and that way of holding the egg, I'd say gives it a kind of surrealist touch. Is like a hug the egg is receiving from its loving mother.
Is great the pose of the male, hugging the female and probably looking funnyly the brothers of the egg.
Good also the blue dragon has pinkish red eyes, and the pink dragon blue yes, I like it.
So it was a good point what was impressing me. 1

:-) Maryanne 'Mab' English-Betie replies: "Thanks! You hit quite a few points there. 2 The dragons really aren't anthrosized. I've always drawn my dragons with front paws/claws being more hand-like. I always thought it made more sense, after all, kinda hard to scoop up all that treasure in your mouth! The only difference between these and a normal dragon is that this pair are missing their wings. I'm glad you spotted the attention the mother was giving to the egg, it's nice to see someone picked that up. 2"

I like this pic "not just for simple fact that it shows talent"but also because it shows the loving side a dragon can have.Oh, dragons can use their feet to pick up treasure as well. Some will even eat it to keep teir scales strong! Weird right?

:-) Maryanne 'Mab' English-Betie replies: "Now I didn't know the part about eating treature to harden their scales...that's pretty cool!"

I love this picture!! The way the mum is looking at her egg, so carefully holding it. I also love the way you have the blue one is sort of hugging the pink one. The border is cool to. You are really talented.
